Photographing the human spirit is what fills my heart. I am grateful every day to be doing what I love to do and sharing my gift with Charlotte's families, children and babies to create heartfelt, artful and playful portraits that will be treasured forever and passed down through generations.
I am often asked about how I came to become a photographer. It is a simple story, I have always wanted to do this and have always done it. I began studying photography in middle school, went on to take college level photography courses while I was in high school and then went on to earn my BFA with a major in photography at Savannah College of Art and Design. Upon graduation, I moved to NYC to work in commercial photography (at a studio in Manhattan that specialized in children's fashion), then hopped around the East coast for a bit before settling in Charlotte NC. Once my own baby was born in 2007, I had a whole new appreciation of family portraiture. The portraits that I have of my daughter as a newborn, baby, toddler and child are my most precious possessions by far. My photographic work began to evolve. I began to see a photo shoot as an opportunity to connect families, to create an experience with them that is commemorated in photographs where they are able to be their most joyful, authentic selves. This experience results in beautiful photographs.
I take a limited number of portrait commissions each year in order to build relationships with the families that I work with. I enjoy creating art for my long time clients and also love meeting new families!
Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dream :)
