is almost complete!!!! I am SO excited. I have really been meaning to write about it while it is still fresh on my mind.
I was invited to photograph a family that had many reasons to celebrate. 5 actually. First, it was the 40th wedding anniversary of a beautiful couple. When I say beautiful, I mean both outside and in. She was gorgeous, he was handsome, and I was completely inspired by their spirit, warmth and love for one another (as well as for their whole family). They have such a sweet story too, they are high school sweethearts. She met him while she snuck out of the house (ssshh!) and the rest is history. This is the kind of couple that most people (myself included) aspire to be after 40 years. They were so much fun to photograph and I can honestly say that I didn’t get any forced smiles. Their smiles are all genuine. Maybe because they are celebrating the other 3 events: 3 grandbabies born within the past year!!!! Yes, 3!! And they came with their families from all over the place to be together under one roof. It was truly one of those moments I’m sure they all wished they could freeze. Which is why they hired me. I hope I can give them something to look back on and bring back the joy of everyone being together (for the first time in 5 years, actually). And the icing on the celebration… Christmas of course! With 5 darling grandchildren, their parents, and the grand parents.
I must admit that I was a bit nervous about photographing this event. After all, it is one of those moments like a wedding where there are no second takes. I’ve done weddings and event coverage, but this was more of a challenge, as it was actually 3 baby sessions, family sessions, anniversary session all at once. The day could not have went better! As soon as I got there I immediately felt welcome and they had me laughing along with them. Photographing them all came naturally and everyone did a great job of helping me coordinate everything. The challenging part was getting all 5 children/ babies together in a shot, but with a little patience and help from the big fellas, I got the shot I hoped for. By the end of the session, I felt like I was a part of the family too! When I photograph, I really tend to get wrapped up in the moment, and this day was no exception. Only there were a TON of moments to get wrapped up in!!!
