I am really on a roll getting caught up on my blogging here.
Mom warned me that it might be slightly chaotic with two toddlers, a child and a tween. All girls, I might add. Well, slightly chaotic it was. One of the twin toddlers would be halfway across the field as I set up a shot for the other one. There was lots of chasing and baby wrangling going on. A bit of bribery too. But…. I’ve gotta say, that I live for this stuff! There were so many little unplanned moments that were just such a joy to photograph. Like the babies having their own “tea” party. Thank goodness for the big kids that could help me out so that I was able to snap a few quick shots of Mom and Dad.
A little about the setup… This was pretty elaborate, even for me. My hubby built the tent, and I did the sewing for the bunting flags and tent fabric patches. I had this vision of balloons being tossed around in a field, with the sunlight streaming through them, making them glow. For whatever reason, as soon as the balloons were emptied onto the grass, they all popped within 20 seconds. ALL of them! I have no idea why. Luckily, I was able to capture a few shots before the balloon massacre.
Lovely girl, hazy light, paper butterflies... dreamy!

So… this is Willow’s babysitter. I love her to bits and so does Willow. She asked me to photograph her. My response…. OF COURSE! She is a lively, beautiful spirit, so it was fitting that we chose a location and time that made the most of the gorgeous late-summer sunlight. I wanted to incorporate something sort of whimsical and ethereal for her portraits.. hence, the butterflies. I even got the chance to bring out Mama Cass (my old vintage clunker of a cruiser bike.) (With the front wheel held on by a wire tie… shhh, don’t tell her parents they’d kill me!).
I’ve always seen her as a little girl, but in these photos she looks so grown up! She’s such a beauty, and just as radiant inside as outside.
Audrey Hepburn once said “Happy girls are the prettiest” and she surely makes a case for this statement.
A photo session with the T family, their kids and their dogs

I don’t want to write too much about this session. I will say that I truly love this family. After working with them numerous times, I grow to love them even more each time I photograph them. The focus of this session, however, is not the beautiful family, or the kids, but it is their beloved pet. What an amazing dog. And what a huge spot she occupies in their hearts.
Thank you, T family, for having me make these photos. It is truly an honor.
I love A’s wrinkly-nose smile here… so adorable!
