A fun family photo session on a perfect Charlotte day.
April 25, 2011
When I first began my correspondence with this beauteous mother, I immediately liked her. When I met her in person, I liked her even more. And her family too! These blue eyed children were a blast to work with. Little A became my buddy immediately and helped me so much. Her little brother, as squeezeably adorable as he was, was a tricky child for me to photograph. This little dude is a RUNNER! He was as rough and tumble and as perfectly *boy* as they come! I would not be one bit surprised if many, many years from now, he is on some enormous stadium’s field running with a football under his arm.
These pictures were taken in Charlotte’s Freedom Park (as mentioned in below post), on a day that was extremely perfect outside, therefore, extremely crowded. Yet, with all the goings-ons in the park, we managed to find little bits of sunlit heaven where their family could spread out and be themselves and a magical portrait session could occur.

Charlotte family session for a fellow photographer
April 16, 2011
When this gorgeous mama first contacted me, she mentioned that she had a blog and dabbled in photography as well. After checking her blog out, I was overcome with excitement to meet her family! The kids were as darling as could be and mom just has such a great sense of style! I was also a bit nervous… which happens anytime I work for a fellow photographer. Sometimes nervous energy can be redirected to make a kick-butt perfecto family session. We collaborated a bit on outfits and ideas and the goal was to create a whimsical and beautiful environment… and I think that we succeeded in just that!
This gorgeous bride and groom match in every way. Not only do they both possess supermodel-strength beauty that turns heads.. but… they have the beautiful insides to match. They are as kind and gracious as two people could be… a true fairytale princess and prince charming! What a perfect pair they are and what a joy to work with.
We shot these wedding portraits on location at the Anne Springs Greenway about an hour before their intimate backyard wedding ceremony at a friend’s home in Baxter. The weather was perfect, the light was amazing, the company was divine.
You could truly feel the love they have for each other, their joy was contagious, and I enjoyed every minute with them.
Congratulations, Joelle and Jason! XO
A beautiful family session in Charlotte's Freedom Park
April 10, 2011
For all the Charlotte photographers out there, you know the pros and cons of scheduling sessions at Freedom Park. The pro’s– it’s convenient, beautiful and versatile, with stone bridges, grassy areas and pretty trees, and the cons- it’s super busy. Not just the joggers, walkers, but hoards of other photogs out there, some with intense lighting setups. And then you get the crazy photographers like me who lug a wagon of vintage styled props and tend to spread out stuff everywhere.
Well… this session at Freedom Park made me fall in love with the park all over again. Was it the park? With the beautiful, sparkling natural morning light? Maybe. Or was it the family? The loving and warm parents with their super good-natured baby boy that just kept smiling and smiling. He was amazing to work with, I kind of wanted to scoop him up and cuddle him for hours. He is going to be a big brother soon, and he will be the best!
Thank you, lovely B family! For sharing such a special morning with me in such a beautiful park. And thank you little J… for the smiles that made my whole day!

Thanks Becca! Love the sneak peeks, they turned out great! We were got a chuckle in thinking you may have had to photoshop all the people out of the photosJ Like you mentioned in your comments, despite being ridiculously crowded you captured ‘little bits of sunlit heaven’. Thank you, and we can’t wait to see the rest!
