Month: September, 2009
It’s been a few months since I’ve done a portrait party but the past two weekends I’ve been at it again. The parties are so much fun. It takes one (semi-organized) mom to put it together, get 4-8 families involved, and assign each family a time slot 1/2 hour apart.
For this party, we chose to do it at Davidson University. There are so many pretty trees, buildings, and walkways. These families are all neighbors and friends and I’m so glad to have met them all. Most of the families stayed even after their session was over to let the kids play together and watch what I was doing. It was so much fun for all of us!
Here are some sneaky peeks….
I always love to photograph boys. Truthfully, I am a total girlie girl. I have been since I was born. As a child, I loved to play dress-up, have tea parties, and mothered about 10 Cabbage Patch dolls (this was the 1980’s we’re talking about). I actually did not own a pair of jeans until I was almost 10 years old- I refused to wear anything but dresses. And now I have a little girlie girl of my own to raise in the tradition.
So, as a photographer, working with girls comes quite naturally to me. Boys, on the other hand, are so different. They are rough and tumble, they love to climb, explore, and run. But they also have these really sweet, tender moments. Especially with their mommies. It always melts me when I see it. I love to capture their expressions once I’m able to engage them with the camera. It sometimes takes a high-five hand slap, race (they ALWAYS beat me!), or helping them find a frog or bug. As much fun as it is for them, it’s fun for me too, like discovering a whole new side of myself.
Ok folks… I’ve been promising and finally got it together tonight. Please let me know asap if you are interested in a time slot on one of these days….
I will also be printing holiday cards with client portraits taken in 2009… so if you are interested in that, hang tight and I will be getting that info up in the next few days too.
This was a BLAST! I got to work with the talent behind Daffodils and Daisies, an awesome boutique clothier for children, babies and toddlers. First of all… let me just say that ALL of the clothes were beautiful! I was so impressed. You may recognize one of the little super models. All of the kids did a great job and held up really well. Of course the overload of Smarties may have helped a bit. You must check out Carrie’s beautiful clothing for children. And she even has some mother daughter pieces.
I am excited to participate in the Cornwell Center’s 6th Annual Fall Festival Celebration and community road race at the Cornwell Center. The Cornwell Center is located at 2001 Selwyn Ave, Charlotte. The festival is from 9:30 to noon. It’s going to be a ton of fun with all kinds of activities for kids. There is a 5K and a 1K with the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald house of Charlotte. Check out the flier here for more information on the event.
I’m going to have a display there and will be there to meet and greet. There will be a free session with me that is going to be raffled off. Also, there is this amazing new canvas that I just received that I’ll be showing off (more on that later).
If you’re looking for something fun and fall-ish to do tomorrow to celebrate the gorgeous weather we’ve been having, please come by and while you’re there, be sure to say hi to me.
Oh, and there will be a petting zoo in case you need more incentive!!!
