I know you’re thinking it, because I would be if I had stumbled across this blog post… yes, they are all incredibly beautiful. Seriously, do I not get to photograph the most attractive families in Charlotte?! I think that should be my new tag line: Becca Bond Photography: The pretty people’s photographer. Maybe happy (and therefore inherently pretty) people are attracted to happy pictures which is kinda what my work is all about. Which makes me happy!! This family is a perfect example!

I am so honored to be working with this family again! The last time I saw them, baby S was a few days old. Newborn sessions are fun because they give me a chance to try out different ideas, concepts, and lighting, as the subject isn’t generally very active. But, I must say that I LIVE FOR photographing babies 6 months and up. Little Miss S was beautiful as a newborn, and I actually have a big old canvas portrait of her hanging in my studio as a sample that gives me regular cases of baby fever. Now she is smiley, and inquisitive, and sitting up on her own, and the photography becomes more about the moment– her expressions, movements, interactions with her family. Big brother E was such a helper this time, I have loads of adorable photos of these siblings together.

Catching “Up” on my Blogging

I have worked with this family many, many times… from kids, maternity, newborn… This mom is a great friend of mine. A beautiful, shining spirit. So I knew that for her kids’ spring photos, I wanted to do something different. We brainstormed together and came up with the idea of an “Up” themed photo session (as in the movie Up). I can’t take credit for the idea, it was stolen from an engagement session that was running rampant on Pinterest a few months ago. But, this one is with kids. I am not even sure how well the idea translated. And honestly, I really don’t care. They are beautiful photos of two beautiful children that I love very, very much And there is a vintage airplane, which is pretty much the coolest photo prop EVER!

Charlotte Family, Springtime, Orchard Happiness

I have been looking forward to this family’s photo session for quite some time. It was completely worth the wait! Mom warned me that she was sometimes serious and not so quick to smile. Well after a few minutes with her, she became the sweetest, most animated little ray of sunshine ever. She is one of the few children that I’ve ever met that are completely happy and not freaked out about grass. Tall grass, pokey grass, clover-y grass, you name it. She will sit, lay, roll and jump in it. She is much happier with bare feet. I can see her with her Daddy in the woods when she’s older.

One of the sweetest memories from this session is when I asked her to pick a flower for her mommy. And then she picked another. And another. And another… I think she found a new hobby! She also loves to dance! No music necessary. She flings her hair around with the biggest smile ever. What a joyful family!

I can’t believe how big this fella has gotten. Photographing children really puts the whole passage of time thing into perspective. It seems like it was just yesterday that he was sleeping away in his parents’ arms… a little newborn bundle of sweetness. Isn’t it amazing how quickly they change? He is now walking (well, running), laughing, talking and he has absolutely stolen my heart for the second time in his life! We had a very special session… that’s all I’m sayin’ about this one!

Can I fit in their camper too?– Fort Mill Family Photography

I love love LOVE the B family. Each of their 4 sweet little kiddos. And the hiking, camping, nature-lovin’ parents too.

This is the hmmm…. fifth?? time that I’ve worked with them and each time it just gets better and better. They decided to have this session at Kings Mountain, since it is a special place for them. Holy perfect location for a perfect family! We had some drizzly weather that cleared into sunshiney skies.

Families with lots of kids are so much fun to photograph. I grew up with one sibling, but my elementary school best friend was part of a big ol’ 6-kid family. There was always something going on in that house. That’s how I feel when I’m with the B family. I love to spend one on one time with each of the children, since they all have such different personalities. I also love to see them interact with each other. The way that A keeps up with her two older brothers is adorable. They look out for each other and play hard. I loved the special moment that the twins spent together whispering wishes for each other. I don’t know what they decided to wish on, but they each looked equally happy. Baby W is too cute and full of smiles. They just do their thing so naturally. It is always hard to say goodbye.

Mom and dad just got a pop up camper and rigged their minivan to pull it. This is a dream of mine… the perfect solution to camping with children. Especially when you have 4 of them. We can fit with Willow in a tent pretty easily. So I’m thinking that no one will notice if I stow away in part of their camper on their next family vaca to the mountains.
