when my husband and i first moved to charlotte, we befriended this awesome couple.  chris and patrick both were interested in electronic music and fishing and ellie and i just hit it off where we never seemed to run out of things to talk about.   this was long before either of us had a baby, so we spent many late nights drinking wine, playing games, doting on our spoiled dogs, and being carefree young adults together.

life with children limited the time we’ve seen each other in the past few years, and i was thrilled that they chose me as their photographer to make little r’s one year baby portrait.  baby r could not have a more caring, perfect mommy and daddy.  they fill her life with happiness and love.  and she fills them too!  she is one lucky baby. and they are lucky parents….

this was such a fun session, we began in their home and headed out to the greenway to finish up, just as the sun was beginning to sink.  they were adorable, their love for each other was evident and their love for their unborn baby was beautiful to witness!

and here’s a secret… i know the name they are thinking of and feel very privileged to be the only one!  we have a special photo about it… not that you’ll see that until after the baby is born!  but… i can assure you that it’s hands-down one of the best baby names i’ve heard and this is going to be one adorable little guy.

big sis was filled with giggles and smiles for the camera and wanted to show me everything, including how high she could jump on her bed (sorry, mom!).  she was so sweet and even gave me a beautiful painting as i left her house in addition to the hugs!  what a wonderful way to begin my day!  little sister had classic ’second child’ syndrome…. super laid-back, go with the flow baby, a dream to photograph!  both sisters had bright blue eyes and heartfelt smiles and i just fell in love with them!  

The moment I walked in and saw this smiling baby reaching his little arms up so that I could pick him up and snuggle him, I knew this was going to be a great session, if only I could bring myself to put him down!  He is quite possibly the most cuddly little baby that I’ve ever photographed.  There were smiles for miles, and it was pretty apparent where they came from.  In fact, I don’t know who I fell for more, this little cutie or his super amazingly cool (and beautiful) mother.  She just had such a bright and contageous energy about her that makes you wonder if flowers bloom wherever she walks.

Dear New Babies…

I was so happy to have met you!  Your beautiful auntie found me and felt like I would be worthy of making your very first portraits, a very special thing indeed!  The day that I met you, you were surrounded by your great, big, loving, Italian family.  I photographed you on a cold winter day, but we had plenty of cuddles to keep you warm!  When one of you began to fuss, your big brother would help to soothe you.  He loves you so much and is going to teach you so much as you grow!  Your family all helped to care for you and I don’t think your auntie or your grandma wanted to put you down for a second.

Thank you for being so sweet, so new, and so perfectly *you*!  BOTH of you!

When I met the older sister, she told me to call her Chrysanthemum.  I really don’t know why, it’s not her name or anything.  But what a cool name it would be, huh?  So I obliged.  These girls were a riot.  I had a really hard time narrowing down pictures of them simply because they were all packed full of personality.  These are kids the way that kids should be.  Silly, goofy, adorable, and just plain *fun*!

and I have to post this on my blog just because it cracks me up every time I look at it.  I asked the girls to show each other some love and this is what I get…

I am excited to participate in the Cornwell Center’s 6th Annual Fall Festival Celebration and community road race at the Cornwell Center. The Cornwell Center is located at 2001 Selwyn Ave, Charlotte.  The festival is from 9:30 to noon.  It’s going to be a ton of fun with all kinds of activities for kids. There is a 5K and a 1K with the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald house of Charlotte.  Check out the flier here for more information on the event.

I’m going to have a display there and will be there to meet and greet.  There will be a free session with me that is going to be raffled off.  Also, there is this amazing new canvas that I just received that I’ll be showing off (more on that later).

This is the time of year that I love! It is so perfect to get outside, and we try to do it each day. This is Willow’s little BFF, whose mommy is Alicia Williams. I completely adore both of them. Their whole family actually.

yes, that is AM, not pM.  it was really my first time shooting at the Anne Springs Greenway in Fort Mill that early and … WOW is all I have to say!  Even on the drive there, I was smitten.  The sunlight was beautiful.  It was absolutely perfect.  The light, the color, and of course the family.  People always ask me what they should wear on their session.  May I just direct them to this incredibly well-dressed, not to mention BEAUTIFUL family!  What a fun portrait session!!!
